What did you think about Congressman Jeffrie's talk?
Here is a link to sign the petition that the congressman talked about.

What do you think about the regular exchange of classmates/instructors between the rooms? Why do you think we do it?

1. Helped us improve our code
ReplyDeleteSo... congressman Jeffrie's talk helped you improve your code? Did you implement student loans and government debt into your website?
DeleteIt really helped our code grow and get some user input!
ReplyDeleteHyyyyyyyppppppppeeeeeeeeeeee!
1) It was good to see encouragement of higher learning from a Congressman.
ReplyDelete2) It helped with organization of our application's files, and some user feedback.

ReplyDelete1: It was somewhat boring, but overall good.
ReplyDelete2: It caught one bug where our code rendered the markov page incorrectly.
Forced me to verify the user's input to make sure it was valid
ReplyDeleteCongressman Jeffrie's talk was boring because politics don't interest me, unless someone is making fun of it
Delete1) I found the speech kind of boring, no offense to the congressman.
ReplyDelete2) It made for a rather varied and interesting learning experience.
Peer review was fine
ReplyDeleteDespite hatred of marquees
I won't remove them.
It helped me find errors that I didn't see before
ReplyDeleteCongressman Jeffrie's talk was nice. I was confused why CSTUY was there.
ReplyDeleteI feel neutral about the classmate/room exchange. I assume that we do it so students are exposed to as many view points as possible.
1. the talk was a okay
ReplyDeleteHe had some good ideas, but I was a bit irked at how he did not properly answer my friend's question. But I didn't really expect an answer to it anyways.
ReplyDeletePeer feedback that we did not already know about helped us make changes, but the majority of the feedback was repetitive and already known.
i don't really like the exchange between students because my friend keeps swapping places with me and we always end up in the opposite rooms.
ReplyDeletethe reason you do it i think is because you want us to work with new people
it is good because you get to meet new people,
ReplyDeleteHelped us realize where our code broke and allowed us to fix it.
ReplyDeleteThe guest talk today was fine. Although it was not particularly of my interest, I survived, so it was not bad at all. I would have rather had a tech talk.
ReplyDeleteI really dislike it, at least, for now, because my friends were all transferred to the other class, and I'm alone. My partner was absent today so I was independent all day. I'm one of the only people left from the original class as almost everyone got moved over. I think you guys do it so we can socialize more with our peers.
1. He is is a really nice person. Also he is somebody that wants to helps us the future of this country that's the main reason of why i liked him.
ReplyDelete2. It was a bit weird and unexpected but i guess it was good. The reason to do it i thinks is because you want us to know how to communicate with new people and how to adapt to the situation.
1.it was motivating.
ReplyDelete2. It makes it a lot harder to continue projects because you and the new people could be up to different places in the project.
Peer feedback helped my group understand what problems arised when browsing through our website. We were able to change our code in accordance to the feedback so that the problem(s) no longer appeared when browsing through the website.
ReplyDelete1. I enjoyed the speech and it made me aware of some of the current political issues as of now.
ReplyDelete2. It allows us to meet new people and ideas
1) Had almost nothing to do with what we are doing here.
ReplyDelete2) To help us meet new people and learn more.
The talk was interesting and well spoken. The regular exchange is cool because students are constantly meeting new people and teachers. You do it because it allows a student to meet new students and collaborate ideas.

ReplyDeleteThe Congressman's talk was eye-opening (although very blunt).
Peer feedback allowed us to hear the issues present in our code multiple times, and it helped us not forget about our code's problems.
I think its ok. We do it to get more practice working with other people.
ReplyDeleteThe peer review helped.
ReplyDeleteHelped make us better coders,
Kindof, Not really.
The peer feedback allowed me to find bugs in my code that needed to be fixed.
ReplyDelete1. I thought the talk was very interesting.
ReplyDelete2. I think this happens so we can be exposed to new learning and teaching methods. By working with new people, we get to learn things in different ways and see how other people use new information.
It helped us do our coding.
ReplyDelete1. I thought his talk was interesting, It brought things that I didn't know to my attention.
ReplyDelete2. Honestly it's sad to see a friend from your room get switched out, or even yourself. But it also lets you learn in a different way and be partners with different people. Like how class is taught and how we interact with one another in the two rooms are different.
1.i liked it
ReplyDelete2.it was interesting.
3.i dont really know why you did it.
I thought Congressman Jeffrie's was interesting and inspirational.
ReplyDeleteThe regular exchange of classmates and teachers is nice. I don't mind either way.
The congressman was decent. I felt like his talk was more for political gains though rather than an actual sincere wanting to help us. This is especially obvious when he kept telling us to speak out and didn't really answer questions to the fullest extent. I wish it was more of a talk about the education system itself rather than a call to action against the system.
ReplyDeleteThe feedback was helpful as I was able to see other's peoples opinion about our code. Very fresh :)
1. His talk was very interesting and inspiring.
ReplyDelete2. The exchange of classmates/instructors has been good because it has allowed us to meet new people. However, I hope it does not continue a lot more because too much would be very discombobulating.
The talk was interesting and i will probably check the link
ReplyDelete1. Jeffrie's talk was actually very interesting and enlightening and I felt as though young people are finally being taken seriously. The regular shifting of colleagues and instructors is cool. I feel like its an opportunity to meet more people however, I haven't quite gotten around to that awkward moment when you try to meet someone new in a different room.
ReplyDeleteHis talk was interesting and made me more aware about the economy and politics.
ReplyDeleteThe switching of instructors and classmates purpose was to help us learn the same content with different ways or working things out.
I enjoyed Congressman Jeffrie's talk. It opened my eyes to the issue of education throughout the nation and how to improve its funding.
ReplyDeleteI think the exchange between classmates and instructors can be useful sometimes. Students go between the rooms to get a different learning experience and learn slightly different material, and instructors also provide different teaching styles to help us.
I think the students being switched is beneficial. It changes the energy and allows us to meet new people which is the intended point.
ReplyDeleteStudents exchange is great not only for meeting new people and understand how different people code differently. Doing so exposes us to different and unique techniques that we can use to improve our own style. This is a great idea, but the frequent exchange is like "I saw the cover of a book and read Ch.1, and it's time to read a new book." There isn't enough time in between to do most of the above. Also, the first few days of getting a new partner is getting to know the other person and figuring out how they code, so there isn't enough time to analyze their style and understand more.
ReplyDeleteP.S. The talk was inspiring. Although I was aware of the issues, I didn't think it was that serious until I hear the $260billion cut.
DeleteI thought is was worth listening to, only because it shed some light about reality.
ReplyDeleteI feel like switching rooms will only make us meet new people. however I don't think it is necessary.
The talk was pretty interesting, since it was the first time seeing a congressman talking about an issue that is pretty personal at the moment and it was something that he seemed to genuinely care about it.
ReplyDeleteI feel like the exchange wasn't necessarily helpful, since partners were constantly changed and this made working together on a project really difficult, since the original code with the first partner is somewhat different from the code of the new partner. So, it was hard to collaborate and work on the same idea/vision of the project. However, changing partners and rooms was probably done to socialize and meet new people.
I like the exchange. I think you do it so you can meet new people.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of the exchange, exchanging teachers is fine because a teacher always knows what they tell students about. A peer exchange is only helpful when the person has an extensive understanding of the material.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of the congressman's speech, I had no idea that the government believes that unnecessary medical augmentation should take precedence over education. If the government doesn't hesitate to excise funding for education, surely other mass markets must be more important to them.
The congressman talk was motivational. He was trying to encourage the idea of students participating in politics.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of switching fellow shipmates, and instructors is to encourage peer to peer interaction, and student to instructors interaction. I don't think it worked well with the group we had, because doing that doesn't instill interest in the rest of the groups that dont interact as much. My new partner usually doesn't do the task at hand. Aside from that though, I did interact with some few people. Got to know the instructors more closely
