At this point --- midway through your SHIP journey --- how would you describe your growth as a thinker?
As a coder?
Describe which aspects of the program have had the strongest impact.

As a coder?
Describe which aspects of the program have had the strongest impact.

my growth as thinker has developed in a good way i am able to do more solving problems by my own, as a coder i have learn how does the syntax works in processing which is a little bit close to the language that i am used to
ReplyDeleteMy growth as thinker and coder has being amazing... Now I'm always looking for better ways of accomplishing stuffs but at the same way my code has become really easy to read and to edit it.
ReplyDeleteI have improved as a coder, and am now able to spend more time problem solving. I have also improved on working with partners.
ReplyDeletei have not grown as a thinker, but as a coder i am improving greatly.
ReplyDeleteI had improved as a Coder because my code has become easier to read. It also has begun to get a bit more faster to do as well.
ReplyDeletei have improved as a thinker, not much as a coder. my brain can think up amazing ideas, but i cannot bring them to life very well.
ReplyDeleteAs a thinker, I haven't changed. As a coder, I think more abstractly
ReplyDeleteI've grown as a thinker in the way that I've learned that setting really weird desktop backgrounds is a bad usage of time. I've grown as a coder in the way that I actually know how to kinda code now. Hooray!
ReplyDeleteI have started to understand more web-based stuff, aka stuff that is not just in an IDE, which is what I was aiming for with this program. Having an actual teacher is much more useful than trying to learn on my own off the internet. Sure, that can work, but having a teacher makes the learning experience much better.
ReplyDeleteCoding requires that I think much more literally than I am used to thinking, because the computer will do exactly what I tell it to do. Coding also forces to be constantly making sure that everything I do is precise, because a lack of precision can/will lead to errors. Also, I have learned to minimize redundancy in order to make my code cleaner and more legible.
ReplyDeleteMy thinking and coding skills have both improved. I am now more familiar with the syntax, and can at times navigate through my own work and identify my own errors. My thinking skills have also improved, because I try to combine the various things I have learned so far, use them when addressing the problems set posted on the blogs before asking for assistance.
ReplyDeleteI grew as a thinker. And as as coder. I developed a mindset unique to both.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have grown as a thinker but I have learned some new concepts as a coder, like dictionaries and local servers.
ReplyDelete1. As a thinker, I now understand the importance of planning a project out, especially when I am working with a group member.
ReplyDelete2. As a coder, I now know more methods and more data types, which I can use to make more complex (and cooler) programs
My thinking and coding have both improved. I now think things through before diving in headfirst, and I am better at finding errors and typos in my own work. Coding-wise, I have gone from println("Grace is awesome") to more complicated stuff, like making the growing/shrinking balls today.
ReplyDeleteI grew at coding
ReplyDeleteNot as much in terms of thought
I know python now.
It has opened my mind to the possible job opportunities that I can pursue as a coder. Also, it has kept me interested day in and day out, which I greatly appreciate.
ReplyDelete1) My process of thinking hasnt changed much. I still think in the same way I always did, meaning there are some coding things that I just dont understand conceptually - which is a problem.
ReplyDelete2) My thought as a coder has improved throughout the class. I find myself constantly references information that I have previously used, which helps keep my code tidy aswell as helping me remember different aspects of code.
I have improved as a coder because I am able to explain the coding material. I have also improved as a thinker because I became better at problem solving.
ReplyDeleteI have learned how to program in a group, and how to use HTML and CSS. There is no specific part with the greatest impact.
ReplyDeleteAs a thinker, I haven't really changed. I still start daydreaming at very inappropriate times, which in turn leaves me to being very confused with the objective given to me. It's just how it is at school! Except that I don't have a textbook to save me in this case.
ReplyDeleteAs a coder, I went from not knowing anything (exaggeration, I did know like 1% of what I know now before I came here), to learning lots of stuff! I can't wait to show off my knowledge to my foes who once insulted my lack of coding experience for the robotics team. Even though I still must learn a lot more stuff to be considered even a programming novice, I am proud to say that I know more than I have before coming here.
I would describe my growth as a thinker as more improved because I have experienced trying to make things work out using multiple approaches and have to sometimes change ideas due to errors.
ReplyDeleteI have also improved as a coder because I have gotten better at creating and understanding different functions and commands.
I grew in thinking,
ReplyDeleteAll through coding and the like.
And also Python.
I definitely am thinking a bit differently. while coding you have to think of how the computer will read everything and make sure everything happens the way you want it too. coding here has taught me a lot and am able to sort of make cool things. the strongest impact on me was learning from all the TA's. they helped me understand and write codes i would not have been to figure out alone.
ReplyDeleteI think I grew as a thinker in some aspects, ever since I have started coding I have started to think about things or programs I saw, and guessed how they worked or at least thought about it, Now that we are moving into the territory of websites and webservers, it gives me a nice insight and a window into how these sorts of basic things which we access every day work, and how complex some of these seemingly basic functions can be when performed over a web-server.
ReplyDeleteI have improved as a coder because I have expanded my area and ability of coding, now I have a much better grasp on python than I did before, and I am starting to understand the inner workings of flask, python and the webserver system we can create with it.
I have improved much
ReplyDeletePython, Flask, web apps
not much as thinker
1.It has become much easier to work with other people and I have become more open to doing partner projects. My coding has also gotten a lot better.
ReplyDelete2. Even though I have a lot of room for improvement, I am a better coder than I was at the start. I am also trying to find ways to simplify my codes and make them easier to read.
I've gotten a lot better at looking things up and problem solving by myself, instead of immediately going for help. the phrase "object-oriented programming" makes a lot more sense now, and I have a much better idea of what needs to be done to complete our current project. All good things. All good things.
ReplyDeleteMy ability as a coder has improved which I think has also helped my thought processes and allows me to think more clearly.
ReplyDeleteI feel that I have grown a lot as a coder, since I now know more about the syntax and am able to write out what I want the program to do, but I still feel that there is a lot more to learn of course. As a thinker, I have grown a lot and am able to think more critically, but I feel that it depends on what the situation is and the syntax I currently know in order to be able to solve the problem at the moment.
ReplyDeleteBut, overall, I do feel that I have grown immensely as a coder and thinker throughout the past two weeks.

ReplyDeleteAs a thinker, I now have the instinct to look at multiple ways of doing things and trusting different sources.
As a coder, I am more experienced in not only Python, but logic and in my understanding of websites. Also, I learned how to combine different languages and methods together.
I was mostly impacted by the clever and efficient logic displayed in many programs such as the Markov literature generator, because if offered a very simple way to do something that otherwise seemed too complicated.
I think that as a coder, I have definitely improved since I didn't have any previous knowledge in coding. I learned a lot of terminology and concepts that I didn't know of before. In addition, in coding, I needed to look at things a different way, so as a thinker, my horizons have definitely expanded.
ReplyDeleteAt the beginning I did not know anything about python, I only knew some python. Now i am better at learning and adapting to new languages like html.
ReplyDeleteI find myself thinking about how things are coded when I am playing a game or visiting a website now. I have grown as a coder because before this class I had never written in Python.
ReplyDeleteHaving reached the midpoint, I've grown as both a thinker and coder although the struggle be real lol. I learned that you gotta b both to succeed. Before you code, you gotta think and that's when you doubt your worthiness and capability to do anything. Once you know the concepts, life gets easier, but there's always a way to make errythin clearer and cleaner; the journey never ends.
ReplyDeleteI have learned to think more creatively in order to solve problems in my programs. The TAs are great. They always help me solve my problems in creative ways. I started out with zero knowledge on computer programming, so I'm excited about everything we've learned. I guess working with partners do practice functions and having the TAs help have made a big impact.
ReplyDeleteI have grown greatly as a coder as I became more experienced with Python and the terminal. As a thinker, I have been able to think more efficiently to try to solve problems I have with my code and planning on how I try to create programs that do certain functions. I think the group-work portion of the program have had the strongest impact since it allowed me to work with other people I did not know who had experience in different areas of coding.
ReplyDeleteAs I thinker I feel that my ability to solve problems has become better. In terms of myself as a programmer, I can say my skills have grown tremendously from what they were before (that is to say very little), but would still consider myself very much a novice coder.
ReplyDeleteI think my skills as a thinker and as a coder have both improved greatly. For me, the aspects of the program that had the strongest impact was learning about cooperation with others.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I am making progress as a coder and as a thinker.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I am making progress as a coder and as a thinker.
ReplyDeleteFor certain at this point, as a coder I feel more confident and understand the basic of OOP. When the program first start, I see codes as some hieroglyphics and some of the basic idea just confuses me. It seems like I have to visualize how the 4th dimension looks and works. As a thinker, I improved a lot. Although I still needed help for strange errors, I did fix some of the common ones that occurred multiple times due to mistakes. Overall, I don't see codes as "hieroglyphics" anymore, but more of "Elizabethan era English". Some I can read and try to understand, some still look strange.
ReplyDeleteAs a thinker, I'm probably around the same range as before? (does that make sense???)
ReplyDeleteAs a coder, I feel like I’m getting better? I'm not sure?
Throughout the SHIP program my knowledge of programming has increased since I'm able to do more stuff now than before. My thinking skills have also increased because Ive become a better problem solver.
ReplyDeleteCSTUY SHIP has developed me as a critical thinker and I can definitely say that I am a nuch better coder as well.
ReplyDeleteSo far in the SHIP program, my knowledge of coding has improved and so has my thinking skills.
ReplyDeleteAs a thinker i am thinking a little more about how i would do something. as a coder i have definitely progressed since i can actually do something.
